Ubelix vs Inspection Systems

Once in a while first time prospects will mention inspection systems such as EyeC or Global Vision in our conversation about Ubelix. It somewhat makes sense to associate Ubelix with inspection systems because they both aim at reducing the risk of print errors.

In many ways Ubelix is a lot more powerful than Inspection systems. Inspection systems will catch errors at the end of the artwork production process, but do not improve the speed, quality, or cost  of the process itself. They do not reduce the risk of errors in the artwork production process, they simply reduce the risk that an artwork with errors will not be caught before getting printed.  W. Edwards Deming’s third key principle for management for transforming business effectiveness, best illustrates the advantage of using Ubelix versus relying on inspection systems:
Cease dependence on inspection to achieve quality. Eliminate the need for massive inspection by building quality into the product in the first place.
Inspection system should be used  as a secondary check on the copy, but mostly for checking non-copy aspects such as color, barcodes, etc…
